In the picture, we see a 28-year-old woman who was admired for her stunning looks before pregnancy. However, as her pregnancy progressed, she noticed her face changing: swelling appeared, her skin turned more sensitive, and her features grew sharper.
Friends and acquaintances were astonished at how drastically a mother-to-be’s appearance could shift. After giving birth, her skin slowly started to heal, and her overall health improved.
The woman admits that those nine months were truly challenging. The transformation of her appearance came along with physical discomfort and unwanted attention from others.
Now, she is still on the path to recovery, but she is delighted to recognize her reflection in the mirror again.
For 28-year-old Malaysian woman Farah Faizal, pregnancy was supposed to be filled with joy and excitement. Instead, she was faced with an unsettling reality: each day, she saw a stranger’s face staring back at her.
Her skin changed right before her eyes. First came redness and small pimples, which then turned into painful inflammations.
Her face grew swollen, deep wrinkles appeared, and her features became harsher. Even her nose and ears looked bigger than before. Those who met her during pregnancy could hardly believe she was the same woman they had seen in the “before” pictures.
Doctors suggested the changes might be linked to a rare form of rosacea — a serious inflammatory skin condition that sometimes develops during pregnancy because of hormonal shifts.
Farah calls those nine months “chaos”: marked by pain, physical struggles, constant stares, and plummeting self-confidence.
Her only source of comfort was her husband, who reminded her every single day that she was still beautiful and resilient.
After childbirth, her skin began to recover: the inflammation subsided, and the redness faded. While her healing is not yet complete, Farah is relieved to finally recognize herself in the mirror once more.
