Fresh Concerns Erupt Over Trump’s Health as “Wrinkled and Bruised Hands” Spark Speculation…Trump shows off ‘wrinkled and bruised hands’ amid health fear
Despite a recent declaration of “excellent health” from his White House physician, President Donald Trump’s physical condition is once again under intense scrutiny, as recent photos revealing visible bruising and wrinkles on his hands have fueled a fresh wave of public concern.
Just weeks ago, following his first physical examination since returning to the White House, Dr. Sean Barbabella assured the nation that the 79-year-old president was in “excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.” Barbabella’s report highlighted “robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function” and credited Trump’s “active lifestyle” for his well-being. The report also disclosed that Trump underwent a colonoscopy in 2024 for diverticulitis and a benign polyp, and is taking medications for cholesterol, cardiac protection, and a “skin condition,” in addition to having had bilateral cataract surgery.
However, the reassuring words from the White House have done little to quell anxieties among the public. The reappearance of prominent bruising on Trump’s hands, a sight that has surfaced on several occasions in the past, has reignited a fierce debate about his overall health.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt previously dismissed such concerns, attributing the bruises to the sheer volume of handshakes the president engages in. “President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day,” Leavitt stated, a claim seemingly corroborated by Trump himself in an interview with Time Magazine.
Yet, the latest images of his visibly discolored and wrinkled hands have led many to question this simple explanation. Dr. Ola Otulana, a general practitioner at Cassiobury Court rehabilitation facility, weighed in on the matter, suggesting the bruise on Trump’s right hand appears “consistent with a superficial contusion.” This, Dr. Otulana explained, could result from “minor trauma” such as bumping into something, or even from a routine medical procedure like having blood drawn.
“This could happen from something as commonplace as bumping the hand against a hard surface, repeated pressure like leaning on a cane or gripping something firmly, or even medical procedures like venepuncture or blood draw,” Dr. Otulana told the Economic Times.
While Dr. Otulana noted that these types of bruises are more common in older adults due to thinning skin and more fragile blood vessels, he also raised the possibility that medications, such as blood thinners, aspirin, or other anti-inflammatory drugs, could make bruises “appear more easily and linger longer.” Despite these observations, Dr. Otulana concluded that the condition of the president’s hands should not, by itself, raise “red flags.”
The speculation surrounding Trump’s health extends beyond his hands. Recently, his appearance at a Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event sparked unconfirmed rumors among the public that he might be wearing a catheter under his suit.
As President Trump continues his demanding public schedule, the persistent visual cues on his hands serve as a constant reminder for many, igniting an ongoing public discourse about the true state of his health and fitness to lead.
